Do I need a visa for Vietnam?
It depends on your nationality. 25 nationalities are exempt: France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the UK, Russia, Japan, South Korea, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland (45 days, all purposes); Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czechia, Hungary, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia and Switzerland (45 days, tourism only); and Belarus (30 days, bilateral agreement). Others come under the e-visa. Select your nationality above: your case appears immediately.
Single-entry or multiple-entry e-visa?
Single entry suits a one-off trip. Multiple entries let you leave and re-enter freely during the validity — useful if you combine Vietnam with a neighbouring country. Prices and details on the e-visa page.
How long does it take?
On average 3 to 7 business days from a complete file. Apply ahead of your departure.
Are French nationals exempt?
Yes: French nationals enjoy a visa exemption of up to 45 days, whatever the purpose of the stay (tourism, business, family visit). It runs until 14 March 2028.
Each new entry to Vietnam reopens a 45-day period: there is no longer any waiting time between two stays. You can therefore travel to Cambodia or Laos and return without an e-visa.
The e-visa becomes necessary beyond 45 consecutive days. It is also more convenient if you plan several round trips: after three or four consecutive rotations, the authorities may refuse a further visa-free entry.
I am Belgian, Swiss, Dutch… am I exempt?
Yes, but with an important nuance. Twelve countries were added on 15 August 2025 — Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czechia, Hungary, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia and Switzerland — with a 45-day exemption valid until 14 August 2028. But this exemption only covers tourism: unlike French nationals, a business trip requires an e-visa. Select your nationality above for the details.
Can I go to Phú Quốc without a visa?
Yes, whatever your nationality, for a stay of up to 30 days — but under two strict conditions. You must arrive directly from abroad (international flight or boat), and Phú Quốc must be your only stop in Vietnam. Transiting through Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi to reach the island voids the exemption, and so does travelling from the island to the mainland: the general rules then apply.
